Platinum compounds, e.g. the Speier catalyst and the Karstedt solution, are known to be very active catalysts in the hydrosilylation of 1-alkene. The use of anhydrous platinum compounds, e.g. Pt(cod)2, has proved even more suitable for a technical hydrosilylation reaction. However, as hydrosilylation with this platinum colloid catalyst is carried out in a quasi-homogeneous system, recycling of the catalyst is quite difficult.
