Asymmetric addition of lauryl mercaptan to various α.β‐unsaturated carbonyl and nitrile compounds was tried with optically active polymeric and low molecular weight amines as catalyst. In the asymmetric addition of lauryl mercaptan to methyl methacrylate and methyl isopropenyl ketone, remarkable diluent effect was observed in the case with polymer catalyst. Especially the effect of alcohols as an additive was very specific.
