Diffraction and spectroscopy study demonstrates stable antiferromagnetic ordering up to 470 K in La0.5Sr3.5Fe3O7.5F2.6, highlighting high-temperature magnetic resilience.
La 0.5 Sr 3.5 Fe 3 O 7.5 F 2.6 is one of the few n = 3 members of Ruddlesden–Popper oxyfluorides. This compound was recently found to be an antiferromagnet with T N being well above room temperature. In this contribution, temperature‐dependent neutron diffraction and Mößbauer spectroscopy were applied to get detailed information on the nuclear and magnetic structures of La 0.5 Sr 3.5 Fe 3 O 7.5 F 2.6 . The nuclear structure was refined in the orthorhombic space group Cmce (No. 64), while for the magnetic structure space group P 2 1 /c (No. 14.75) was derived. The antiferromagnetic ordering of the iron moments was found to persist in the very wide temperature range of 1.7–470 K without any structural transitions. While neutron diffraction revealed the loss of long‐range antiferromagnetic ordering to occur above 470 K, Mößbauer spectroscopy showed that short‐range ordering remains up to 525 K.
