The fundamental elasticity tensor for a transversely isotropic medium is evaluated explicitly from a contour integral representation given by Synge (4). It is then utilized to estimate the elastic interaction energy of two infinitesimal dislocation loops in a transversely isotropic medium. Results for some media are found to exhibit qualitative differences from corresponding results for an isotropic medium.
