Capsule “hotels” for molecular guests: The binding, release, and even reaction of guests within the cavities of inorganic cages or capsules (see picture) can be performed with an unprecedented level of control. In view of this host–guest chemistry, such functional frameworks are promising in catalysis and for model studies of ion channels in biological membranes.
