A novel all-optical linearization technique of electroabsorption (EA) optical modulators by using a dual modulation scheme is proposed and theoretically investigated. Reductions of the third-order intermodulation products of ∼30 dB and the subsequent increase of the spurious-free dynamic range of ∼20 dB were achieved in suboctave narrowband operation.
