Physiologic PR shortening and P-wave reduction in normal labor warrant caution in distress interpretation; leaves open prospective outcome validation.
Fetal ECG changes such as shortened P-R interval and reduced P wave amplitude during labour occur in normal fetuses and should not necessarily be interpreted as fetal distress.
