The method of restricted diffusion has been applied to sodium polysulfide melts in order to determine differential diffusion coefficients spanning the composition range of the single‐phase liquid region , at temperatures between 300° and 350°C. Molybdenum electrodes at the ends of the cell gave open‐circuit potentials in response to the transient concentration difference. The shape of the potential vs. time plots showed the expected dependence on the initial concentration profile. The following expression summarizes the experimental data The diffusion coefficients showed a temperature dependence in harmony with viscosity data, but not conductivity data.
