Simulation study evaluates the zero-missing phenomenon in long underground alternating current lines, suggesting arc resistance models can resolve breaker interruption failures.
The renewable power plant projects must be constructed and start commercial operations quickly in order to increase the ratio of renewable power plants. On the other hand, suitable locations for onshore and offshore wind farms are far from the existing power grid. Therefore, these projects should adopt the underground cable transmission method to shorten the construction period. However, cable transmission systems face electrical problems caused by cable capacitance and issues related to reactive power control. In this paper, we investigate the solution for “Zero-Missing Phenomenon (ZMP)”—one of the associated issues—using an arc resistance model.
