Experimental study reveals qualitative evaluation of space charge accumulation in cross-linked polyethylene via current integration, indicating viable indirect assessment.
The current integration method has been attracting attention as a superior approach to studying the properties of insulators, despite its classical foundation. While it cannot directly measure space charge accumulation, it may still provide useful insights for qualitatively evaluating the accumulation of space charges by considering the effects on the measurement results. We present in this article an attempt to verify the above possibility by comparing the measurement results with those of the space-charge distributions, measured by the pulsed electroacoustic method, using cross-linked polyethylene as a sample.
