Experimental study reveals a strong correlation between electrical resistance and path length in cavitation bubble plasma, indicating electrical analysis can estimate discharge length.
A method for evaluating the discharge path length in cavitation bubble plasma (CBP) was investigated. The discharge path length was measured by image analysis using a high-speed camera, while the discharge path resistance was calculated from voltage and current. Temporal variations in both discharge path length and discharge path resistance exhibited similar trends, and a strong correlation was observed between them. These results suggest that discharge path resistance can serve as an indicator for estimating the discharge path length. Therefore, electrical analysis could be an effective method for characterizing discharge phenomena in CBP, in addition to conventional optical methods.
