Experimental study demonstrates combined bond and cone resistance mechanisms in concrete screw anchors, suggesting improved methods for load-bearing capacity evaluation.
Post-installed anchors are classified into three types: (1) adhesive, (2) mechanical, and (3) others. The screw-type fastening post-installed anchors belong to the last category. This study has conducted pull-out experiments to examine the effects of key parameters on their strength and to pro-pose an evaluation method. The results show that pull-out strength is governed by the engagement resistance between the embedded screw and the surrounding concrete. Based on observed failure modes, the proposed method evaluates strength as the sum of bond and cone resistances, with bond failure at the lower part and cone failure at the upper part.
