Scholarly dialogue reveals global manifestations of racial oppression across transnational contexts, highlighting the analytical relevance of critical race theory to contemporary white supremacy.
This article convenes a transnational dialogue on The New Racial Regime: Recalibrations of White Supremacy by bringing together three scholars from Australia, France, and the United States – Debbie Bargallie, Houria Bouteldja, and Too Black – to reflect on the contemporary relevance of Alana Lentin’s contribution to race critical theory. Each contributor engages the book through a key concern it raises, while Lentin responds by reflecting on how race critical theory operates across different political and geographical contexts. Conducted over six months via email, the exchange evolved alongside unfolding geopolitical events, prompting further consideration of the urgency and analytical significance of Lentin’s work. The article reproduces this dialogue in full, highlighting the global resonance of debates on race, racism, and white supremacy in the current conjuncture.
