Theoretical analysis demonstrates four distinct viscoelastic regimes in dilute bubble suspensions, suggesting a reliable evaluation strategy for combined shear flows.
We theoretically investigated the rheological properties of dilute bubble suspensions under parallel combined shear deformation consisting of both non-zero mean and superimposed oscillatory shear. The viscoelastic behavior is governed by three dimensionless parameters: two capillary numbers representing the magnitudes of the mean and oscillatory shear components, and a dynamic capillary number characterizing the unsteadiness of bubble deformation. The rheology is essentially classified into four regimes. We propose a strategy for evaluating viscoelasticity under parallel combined shear deformation and demonstrate its usefulness.
