The spin-fluctuation theory of Hasegawa (1979-1981) is applied to the paramagnetic state of gamma -Mn, Cr and V, using the densities of states derived from accurate band calculations. The temperature dependence of the calculated susceptibility is qualitatively correct in each case and the temperature dependence of the root-mean-square atomic spin is also calculated. The results are discussed in relation to previous theoretical work and to some of the results of neutron scattering and photoemission experiments.
