Epidemiologic data and analysis of the results of treatment of major renal injuries in clinically stable patients managed conservatively are presented. Radiologic assessment of the cases is reviewed and a plea for conservative management of renal injuries in children is made. © 1981 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byKurtz M, Eswara J, Vetter J, Nelson C and Brandes S (2016) Blunt Abdominal Trauma from Motor Vehicle Collisions from 2007 to 2011: Renal Injury Probability and Severity in Children versus AdultsJournal of Urology, VOL. 197, NO. 3 Part 2, (906-910), Online publication date: 1-Mar-2017.Grimsby G, Voelzke B, Hotaling J, Sorensen M, Koyle M and Jacobs M (2018) Demographics of Pediatric Renal TraumaJournal of Urology, VOL. 192, NO. 5, (1498-1502), Online publication date: 1-Nov-2014.SANTUCCI R, LANGENBURG S and ZACHAREAS M (2018) Traumatic Hematuria in Children can be Evaluated as in AdultsJournal of Urology, VOL. 171, NO. 2, (822-825), Online publication date: 1-Feb-2004.MOOG R, BECMEUR F, DUTSON E, CHEVALIER-KAUFFMANN I, SAUVAGE P and BRUNOT B (2018) Functional Evaluation by Quantitative Dimercaptosuccinic Acid Scintigraphy After Kidney Trauma in ChildrenJournal of Urology, VOL. 169, NO. 2, (641-644), Online publication date: 1-Feb-2003.GERSTENBLUTH R, SPIRNAK J and ELDER J (2018) Sports Participation and High Grade Renal Injuries in ChildrenJournal of Urology, VOL. 168, NO. 6, (2575-2578), Online publication date: 1-Dec-2002.McAleer I, Kaplan G and LoSasso B (2018) Congenital Urinary Tract Anomalies In Pediatric Renal Trauma PatientsJournal of Urology, VOL. 168, NO. 4 Part 2, (1808-1810), Online publication date: 1-Oct-2002.BROWN S, ELDER J and SPIRNAK J (2018) ARE PEDIATRIC PATIENTS MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO MAJOR RENAL INJURY FROM BLUNT TRAUMA?
