Some liquid crystalline 3-n-alkyl-6–[4-n-alkyloxy-phenyl] -1,2,4,5-tetrazines were synthesized. The substances show an intensive red violet colour and are stable under UV irradiation. Possible applications for colour switching displays are presented.
