The present paper reports the inhibitory effect of Asparagus racemosuson DMBA‐induced mammary tumorigenesis in rats of Holtzman strain. When virgin female rats, normal or primed with 17‐β‐estradiol treatment, are put on diets containing 0.25%, 0.5%, 1% or 2% Asparagus root extract powder prior to their exposure to DMBA, mammary tumor incidence shows a sharp decline.
