SUMMARY Gastric ulceration was diagnosed in 5 foals on the basis of typical clinical signs. These signs included depression, abdominal pain, bruxism, excessive salivation, gastric reflux, and a tendency to lie in dorsal recumbency for prolonged periods. Three of the 5 foals died, and numerous gastric ulcers were found at necropsy. Two foals survived following symptomatic therapy.
