Wire-based interventional clip excision (WICE) facilitated transfemoral tricuspid valve replacement in a case of recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after prior transcatheter edge-to-edge repair.
Why the study?
Treatment options for residual or recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after TEER remain scarce because additional TEER devices and transcatheter valve replacement are often restricted by existing TEER devices.
Does wire-based interventional clip excision (WICE) facilitate transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement in patients with residual or recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after TEER?

Does wire-based interventional clip excision (WICE) facilitate transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement in patients with residual or recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after TEER?
Wire-based interventional clip excision (WICE) is a feasible technique to enable transcatheter tricuspid valve replacement in patients with prior TEER devices.
CASE SUMMARY: Residual or recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) is associated with substantial impairment of quality of life. Treatment options remain scarce, as additional TEER devices and transcatheter valve replacement are often restricted by TEER devices. Here, wire-based interventional clip excision with consecutive intended single-leaflet detachment facilitated the opportunity for transfemoral tricuspid valve replacement. TAKE-HOME MESSAGE: In patients with recurrent or residual tricuspid regurgitation after TEER, wire-based interventional clip excision may facilitate the option for tricuspid transcatheter valve replacement in selected cases.

Voß et al. (2025) conducted a case report in Residual or recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after tricuspid transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER). Wire-based interventional clip excision (WICE Procedure) was evaluated. Wire-based interventional clip excision (WICE) facilitated transfemoral tricuspid valve replacement in a case of recurrent tricuspid regurgitation after prior transcatheter edge-to-edge repair.
