A Born‐von Kármán model of the hexagonal close‐packed lattice, which includes a combination of central and angular forces extending out to third nearest neighbours, is used to study the harmonic properties of beryllium, magnesium, and zinc. The phonon dispersion curves and frequency spectra of these metals are computed and compared with previous experimental and theoretical results.
