The band spectrum of manganese deuteride has been photographed at a dispersion of 1.25 Å/mm. The heads of the (0,0) and (0,1) bands of the 7 Π → 7 Σ system are at λ5703 7 Å and λ6073.3 Å. respectively. It has been possible to make a rotational analysis of the two bands. The constants of the final state have been derived from the analysis and the fine structure resulting from the interaction of spin and rotation has been studied The 7 Π state is perturbed and the terms have been evaluated from the term expressions for the final state and the wave numbers of the P, Q and R branches. The results throughout are in good agreement with the results for the corresponding bands in the spectrum of manganese hydride.
