Experiments have been carried out to test the generally accepted view that contact insecticides enter into the central nervous system via the haemolymph. So far, they have only produced evidence to the contrary As an alternative route, it is suggested that these insecticides reach the site of action via the integumental tissues of the body wall and the tracheal system. The evidence for this is discussed.
