Domain analysis reveals shifting methodological connections in knowledge organization literature, highlighting the integration of artificial intelligence into traditional classification practices.
This research aims to provide a triangulated, and thus more robust, understanding of the changing landscape of knowledge organization (KO) as it incorporates AI. This research adopts domain analysis, one of the major methodological paradigms in knowledge organization. The network analysis—specifically co-word, density, and centrality analyses—were applied to the AI-related articles from seven core scholarly journals and conference proceedings in the domain of knowledge organization during the past five years. The results of this research will provide insight into the connections between traditional KO practices and emerging AI technologies, the benefits and challenges brought by AI, and the trends over the years in knowledge organization.
