Numerical simulation study demonstrates superior impact resistance and reduced deformation for arch-cable supports in deep mine roadways, highlighting improved stability against rockbursts.
The prevention and support of rockburst in roadways at kilometer-deep mines currently pose a bottleneck problem restricting industry development. In response to the shortcomings of existing roadway support systems in practical applications, a new arch-cable anti-impact support structure is proposed. This new structure utilizes a rigid framework for support and steel cables to regulate load forces, fully leveraging the mechanical advantages of the combined structure. It offers benefits such as omnidirectional impact resistance, high support stress, and dynamic adjustability. Numerical simulation software was employed to study the coupling mechanics between the new support structure and the surrounding rock. The results indicate that, compared to the U-shaped steel arch support, the new arch support leads to both reduced deformation and a smaller deformation zone in the roadway, demonstrating its superior performance under impact loading. Further analysis at selected monitoring points in the roadway revealed that the new arch support results in smaller deformations during the static loading phase, indicating stable load-bearing capacity. Comparing the equivalent plastic strain of the new arch frame and the U-shaped steel arch frame, the maximum equivalent plastic strain of the new arch frame is 0.14, which is much lower than that of the U-shaped arch frame (0.23). This indicates that the new support performs better under dynamic loads. Additionally, since the new support has no rigid floor beam, it can effectively reduce the workload and difficulty of roadway support.
