Survey examines acceptance of 61 evaluation metrics among psychology researchers, highlighting community perspectives on academic hiring criteria.
Over the past decade, research assessment has moved away from counting publications and citations towards broader quality criteria. These criteria were set top-down, by funders, research organisations and learned societies. Whether hiring committees, reviewers and early-career researchers accept them is unclear. This survey asks researchers in psychology which of 61 indicators they consider acceptable as a basis for assessing them when they apply for an academic position, and whether each should be visible to the evaluating committee only or publicly.
