This project contains the eighth paper in the Emotional Engineer 1-2, 3-6-9, 3-3-3 series — the empirical companion to Paper 7. Using the same convergent citation mapping method as Papers 2, 5, and 6, this paper maps published research from developmental psychology, attachment theory, adverse childhood experience research, somatic trauma science, affective neuroscience, self-compassion research, and neuroplasticity science onto each stage of the cycle as it operates in the interior life of a human being. The evidence reflects the formation of the mask through Stage 3 coherence building; the amplification of unresolved cycles to Stage 6 resonance across every domain of a person's life; the origin of narcissistic and people-pleasing behavioral patterns in the same conditional early attachment environment; the mechanism of recognition as the return to Stage 1 with conscious awareness; and the building of emotional mastery through directing desire at Stage 1 and choosing duality at Stage 2 in conscious repetition until Stage 6 resonance is reached within the directed desire. Sources include Bowlby (1969, 1973, 1980) on attachment theory, Felitti et al. (1998) on adverse childhood experiences, van der Kolk (2014) on somatic trauma, Porges (2011) on polyvagal theory, LeDoux (1996) on the emotional brain, Neff (2011) on self-compassion, and Lazar et al. (2005) on neuroplasticity, among others. None of this research was designed to confirm the framework. Its convergence across independent fields is the basis on which Paper 7 stands. The series concludes with Paper 9.
