We followed the crystallization-time dependence of zeolitic imidazolate framework, ZIF-8. Interestingly, when zinc carbonate basic was used as the metal source, the coexistance of ZIF-8 and ZnO nanoneedles was observed. Long synthesis times promoted the complete crystallization of ZIF-8. The kinetics of transformation is governed by Avrami’s classic model.
