Progressive multifocal leucoencephalopathy (PML) is a rare and fatal demyelinating disease of the central nervous system, that occurs in patients with reticuloendothelial neoplasms and in other diseases associated with defects of the immunological system (Åstrom et al, 1958). To date, two cases have been reported in which the patients have recovered from the PML after treatment with cytosine arabinoside (Bauer et al, 1973; Marriott et al, 1975). We would like to add a third case, that of a woman with Hodgkin's disease in whom a diagnosis of PML was made by exclusion.
