A stable high-valent RuVII: In pH<12 aqueous solutions, ruthenium tends to convert into lower oxidation states due to the disproportionation-decomposition reaction (DDR) shown. For the first time the novel stabilization of RuVII (as >RuVIIO) was identified in a ruthenium oxide–Prussian blue (RuOx–PB) analogue in an acidic medium (pH 2) without any DDR. The RuOx–PB can selectively catalyze the oxidation of glucose (G) to gluconolactone (GO).
