It is important for the laryngologist to be familiar with all of the vocal cord disturbances that may develop in the singer. It is possible to recognize danger signals in the larynx of the person who is misusing his voice. Proper advice may save the patient many heartaches, as well as useless expense. Particular attention should be directed to the singer who suffers from recurrent submucosal hemorrhage of the same vocal cord. Careful observation for a prominent blood vessel on the surface or the edge of the involved cord should be made, and if present, it should be removed.
