That analgesic-associated nephropathy is an international problem was made clear in a recent symposium (1). Whether analgesic abuse is a major cause of renal disease in the United States is still open to question (2) and needs further study.The increased incidence of urinary-tract carcinoma among analgesic abusers is sometimes overlooked.
