Experimental study demonstrates efficient one-pot synthesis of isoxazole derivatives using [EMIm][BH3CN] ionic liquid under microwaves, highlighting an energy-efficient catalytic route.
AbstractHere, we have developed an expeditious and efficient protocol for the synthesis of isoxazol-5(4H)-onederivatives catalysed by the ionic liquid [EMIm][BH3CN] using ethanol as a solvent under microwaveirradiation (MW, 240 W, 4–6 min) and conventional reflux conditions. The microwave-assisted methodprovided significantly higher yields in much shorter reaction times compared to the conventional process, highlighting the synergistic effect of microwave energy and ionic liquid catalysis. The key advantages of thepresent method include shorter reaction time, energy efficiency, easy work-up, wide substrate scope tolerance, and overall cost-effectiveness.
