Design-based research study outlines a participatory ethics meta-toolkit for local communities, highlighting bottom-up governance for artificial intelligence systems.
This this meta-toolkit is devised from that condition the Double Vacuum of the Moral Intersection Gap (DoVMIG), stating that absent or inadequate policy begets a lack of moral reference, and vacuum begets vacuum. It also proposes Localised lourishing Ethics (loc-FE) as the regulative direction through partial, single-cycle Design-Based Research. JiT-AIE scaffolds a community to author its own Community-Authored Calibration AI Ethics Document (CACAIED). Stage 1, Contextual Grounding: select the community by AI-relationship type, build the four registers, and name the substrate Stage 2, Mediated Encounter: Move 1 sets a diegetic near-future scene, Move 2 re-stages it asforum theatre with community spect-actors, and four registers are handed forward. Stage 3, Critical Deconstruction: translate felt unease into statable claims through the repeatedwhy, rank the harms on the borrowed risk tiers, test them against the five AI4People principles, and hand forward the articulated-critique and disagreement registers. Stage 4, Value Calibration: surface values, calibrate them against the seeds without conflation, finalise the top three individual and top three community values, run the Authorship-Locus Integrity Check, and publish the prototype CACAIED. Stage +1, Flourishing Scaffolding: rotate the holders, reseed on the cadence, run the Framework-Exchange Protocol with proximate communities, and post the community’s flourishing statement.
