A simple but realistic physical model is suggested to analyse the capture radii and wipe‐out numbers in dilute alloys of copper and aluminium. The valency of impurity is decided according to Friedel criterion and the size effect is included according to Blatt. It is found that the capture radii and wipe‐out numbers are proportional to the magnitude of perturbation caused by both the realistic valence difference and size effect. It is shown that the size effect is dominating in copper alloys while the valence effect is dominating in aluminium alloys. The deduced linearity relations may be quite useful for predicting the capture radii and wipe‐out numbers for new experiments.
