A nano-heater is demonstrated by S. H. Ko and co-workers by fabricating a single nanowire resistive nano-heater (RNH) via an all-solution process at ambient pressure and low temperature, without using any conventional e-beam lithography, photolithography, or vacuum deposition. Furthermore, on page 5015, it is demonstrated that the RNH induces highly localized temperature fields, which trigger highly localized thermochemical reactions to grow hierarchical nanowires directly at a specific location, such as ZnO nanowire branch growth on a single Ag nanowire.
