General expressions for the various orders of temperature diffuse scattering (TDS) for cubic elements are developed which show that the diffuse peaks at the Bragg maxima are broader for the higher order TDS contributions, and which also show that the average value of/th order TDS (in electron units per atom) isf 2 exp [-2M](2M)~/l !.The relevance of this result to the Warren theory and the more recent Paskin theory for TDS for cubic powders is discussed, and it is shown that the Warren theory is more accurate.
