Charge exchange between O8+and He(1s2) is studied both theoretically and experimentally. In the energy range where capture cross sections have been measured good agreement is obtained between theory and experiments. Calculations predict that in single-electron capture the electron is transferred dominantly into O7+(n=4), which is supported by earlier experimental work.
