Several bis-cinnoline derivatives were found to act as a new class of n-type amorphous organic material. They exhibit high electron-drift mobility up to the order of 10−3 cm2V−1 s−1 and high thermal stability, and therefore are useful as a cathode buffer layer in thin-layer organic solar cells.
