The effect of the inverse square law attenuation of grenz rays across an ionisation chamber on the measurement of exposure is discussed. A correction factor is evaluated for the Victoreen grenz-ray chamber (Model 651), which has a conical air volume. For a conical air volume, there is an optimum shape, for which the correction factor is minimised.
