⁶⁷Zn M\"ossbauer studies under hydrostatic pressures up to 16 GPa coupled to scalar-relativistic linear augmented plane wave calculations show that in Zn metal an electronic topological transition occurs at {~}6.6 GPa. At the transition of the electronic subsystem the hyperfine interactions remain virtually unchanged, but the lattice dynamics is drastically affected, in particular, the Lamb-M\"ossbauer factor abruptly drops by a factor of 2. The latter result is described by a sudden destruction of a giant Kohn-anomaly which accompanies the electronic topological transition.
