It is shown that the crystal structure of CdTe thin films is strongly affected by a variation in the relative concentration of the metallic and non‐metallic constituents. Optimum conditions are found which lead to CdTe thin films with a pure hexagonal structure. The constants of the CdTe cubic and hexagonal cells are computed.
