Ultrasound and radionuclide imaging of the testes were performed preoperatively. Both sonograms revealed a sonolucent intratesticular lesion consistent with hematoma or abscess. In cases of acute testicular trauma a sonolucent intratesticular echo pattern should suggest the possibility of testicular rupture. © 1981 by The American Urological Association Education and Research, Inc.FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited byCorrales J, Corbel L, Cipolla B, Staerman F, Darnault P, Guille F and Lobel B (2018) Accuracy of Ultrasound Diagnosis after Blunt Testicular TraumaJournal of Urology, VOL. 150, NO. 6, (1834-1836), Online publication date: 1-Dec-1993.Willis D, Finkbeiner A and Redman J (2018) Nonpenetrating Gunshot Injury as a Cause of Testicular RuptureJournal of Urology, VOL. 140, NO. 6, (1543-1544), Online publication date: 1-Dec-1988.Cass A and Luxenberg M (2018) Value of Early Operation in Blunt Testicular Contusion with HematoceleJournal of Urology, VOL. 139, NO. 4, (746-747), Online publication date: 1-Apr-1988.Anderson K, McAninch J, Jeffrey R and Laing F (2018) Ultrasonography for the Diagnosis and Staging of Blunt Scrotal TraumaJournal of Urology, VOL. 130, NO. 5, (933-935), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1983.Sanders R (2018) Editorial CommentJournal of Urology, VOL. 130, NO. 5, (935-935), Online publication date: 1-Nov-1983.Cass A (2018) Testicular TraumaJournal of Urology, VOL. 129, NO. 2, (299-300), Online publication date: 1-Feb-1983.Martin D (2018) Editorial CommentJournal of Urology, VOL. 129, NO. 2, (300-300), Online publication date: 1-Feb-1983.
