A new liquid phase is described which allows the efficient separation and analysis of amines and aminoesters by GC. The phase is a polyamide containing tertiary amine groups. It may be coated neat or with a silicone oil on a deactivated support such as GasChrom Q, and may be used as a modifier for porous polystyrene solid phases such as Porapak P. Chromatograms of basic compounds under these conditions are characterized by symmetrical peaks, high efficiency and linearity of peak height relative to quantity injected.
