Millimetre‐wave design and verification of a meta‐surface dielectric window made of polytetrafluoroethylene in Ka‐ and Q‐band

A periodic dielectric meta‐surface structure was designed to extend the output window operating bandwidth of a wideband mode gyrotron travelling wave tube. The equivalent permittivity of the meta‐surface matching layer can be adjusted arbitrarily by changing the lattice dimensions. The fabricated meta‐surface dielectric window demonstrated a relative bandwidth of 53.9% with a reflection below in the Ka‐ and Q‐band.
