By means of suitable reduction and oxidation reactions, [VVO7(OCH3)12] (see picture) can be converted into three further representatives of this cluster with varying VIV/VV ratios ([VVO7(OCH3)12](4−n) with n=3, 5, 6), even in the cationic form which is unusual for the classic polyoxometalate-forming metals V, Nb, Ta, Mo, and W (n=3).
