Disruption of phosphorus-calcium metabolism in poultry is a leading problem of modern poultry farming because it leads to the occurrence of internal organ damage, a decrease in production, and economic losses. This is due to the peculiarities of metabolism, characteristic of, for example, broilers. In this study, the authors investigated the toxicity of dicalcium phosphate nanoparticles under single intragastric administration in Wistar rats.In an experiment on 30 Wistar rats (age -10-12 weeks, body weight -220-270 g) of different sexes (3 groups of males and 2 groups of female rats, 6 animals in a group) kept in vivarium conditions on a standard diet, the toxicity of dicalcium phosphate nanoparticles was determined after a single intragastric administration (5.000 mg/kg b.w.(1 st males group and females group) and 10,000 mg/kg b.w.(2 nd males group).Hydrosol of dicalcium phosphate nanoparticles was carried out by co-precipitation method, stabilized by polyvinylpyrrolidone with a concentration of 2 g/l was used in the experiment, stabilizer content was 0.3 w%, and the acidity of the solution was 7-8.Observations of the animals for 14 days did not reveal any negative effects of the injected substance. After euthanasia, a pathomorphological examination of the internal organs (liver, lungs, heart, kidneys, spleen, testes/ovaries, adrenal glands, pancreas) was performed, which also did not reveal any deviations compared with control group. Thus, dicalcium phosphate nanoparticles with a single administration of up to 10,000.0 mg/kg b.w.did not show signs of toxicity, no deaths of rats were observed in the experimental groups, and therefore this substance can be attributed to toxicity class Vpractically non-toxic compounds and safety class IVlow-hazard substances.Further studies will be aimed at developing a drug based on these nanoparticles for the correction of mineral metabolism in poultry.
