A method has been developed to evaluate the type of cell, its characteristics, and possible infectious activity in patients with acute and chronic anterior inflammation of endogenous origin. The characteristics of the cells identified in several inflammatory diseases are described. Lymphocytes, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, and monocytes are the commonest cells. No microbial agents were identified in the specimens studied.
