Abstract 5-(4-Acryloylaminophenyl)-3-amino-7-dimethylamino-2-methylphenazinium chloride (1) which is a DNA-binding (intercalative) molecule was radically copolymerized with acrylamide in the presence of λ phage DNA. A gel electrophoretic examination of the reaction product has strongly suggested that the DNA was grafted with polyacrylamide chains through 1 (“pseudo-grafting”).
