The energies of interaction between the interstitial atoms within two nearest coordination shells in f.c.c. Fe–9.87 at% N and Fe–7.66 at% C alloys were estimated on the basis of a comparison of Monte Carlo computer simulation results on the short-range atomic order with the corresponding experimental data obtained by means of Mössbauer spectroscopy. Unlike the previous studies here a strain-induced interaction between interstitial atoms within the nearest six interstitial coordination shells (whose energy parameters were independently calculated) was taken into account. The effect of the temperature variation of atomic distribution “freezing” at cooling on the values of energy parameters was analysed.
